Your bike commute on Telegraph Avenue could look like this by Spring 2015
Your bike commute on Telegraph Avenue will look like this by Spring 2016, save the planter boxes

Oakland is busy striping the first protected bike lanes in the City on Telegraph Ave, and a ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 9:00am (Telegraph at 20th) with Mayor Libby Schaaf. Join us to celebrate a milestone achievement, as WOBO volunteers worked for many years on this project. And volunteer to help ensure a smooth rollout.

Phase 1 includes a road diet on Telegraph Avenue, from 5 through lanes for cars to 3 through lanes plus bike lanes. The current Plan is for protected bike lanes from 20th to 29th St and buffered bike lanes from 29th St to 41st St. We are asking the City to extend the protected bike lane section further north, given additional funding now available from voter approval of Measure BB.

Walk Oakland Bike Oakland and Bike East Bay have fought vigorously for the past 3 years for this bikeway and now is the moment to make it happen. If approved by City Council, we expect to see this bikeway on the ground in Spring 2015.
