BIKE TO WORK DAY 2024

WHAT A DAY!

Thursday May 16 dawned clear and crisp, a beautiful day for this year’s Bike To Work Day events.  Various group rides, aka “Pedal Pools” that started from the 81st Street library, The Grand Lake Theater, The New Wheel, and West Oakland, Fruitvale and Rockridge BART stations included Mayor Sheng Thao and members of the Oakland City Council. The rides converged on Frank Ogawa Plaza at City Hall for speeches and Caffe Teatro coffee and pastries to commemorate Oakland’s commitment to the No Pollute Commute.  We thank the City of Oakland, Bay Wheels, and Bay Area Air Quality Management District for supporting WOBO in programming the day’s events.

Oakland’s Bike To Wherever Day concluded when hundreds came out for the 2nd annual Old Oakland Happy Hour on Washington Street to mingle and have a chance to chat one-on-one with advocates, the City’s staff, Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commissioners, AC Transit, and The Crucible. Many thanks to Bike East Bay for co-hosting this event with us, and Rock The Bike for providing pedal-powered music.  Many thanks to all the WOBO and Bike East Bay volunteers who came together to make this the festive occasion it was.
