Thursday May 9, 2019

Bike to Work Day is held annually on the second Thursday in May. On this special day, WOBO and bicycling allies encourage people to try the “no-pollute commute” with a variety of enticements.

With the generous support from the City of Oakland and other bike-friendly orgs, thousands of bicyclists find “Energizer Stations” at strategically placed locations where they can stop, get a canvas bicycle-style bag filled with treats and bicycling information, free coffee, juice or snack, and good cheer. WOBO hosts the largest Energizer Station in the East Bay: a pancake breakfast and transportation fair for 900 – 1,000 at Frank Ogawa Plaza. Um, no other energizer station gets an AC Transit but, GIG art car, Lyft Adaptive Bike Share demos, regional and local transportation and bicycling groups, bike valet parking while you snarf the free breakfast a la Blackberry Soul, phat vinyl tunes by DJ Lumba Jack, and Oakland A’s Green machine featuring Stomper!

We also organize pedal pools so you can ride with your Councilmember, Mayor, and or other elected officials and city leaders to the Plaza. Celebrate an earth- and heart-healthy alternative to driving to work.

How to Join the Fun

We are powered by volunteers. Be one. Sign up on THIS FORM.

Every WOBO Volunteer on BTWD gets our brand new WOBO Tubie! (You also get one when you become a member in 2019.)

Coordinated District Pedal Pools

We all know that riding in a pack is way more fun than riding alone. On the morning of Bike to Work Day, you will be able to meet up with your elected officials and local leaders, and ride with district pride down to City Hall for the FREE pancake breakfast and fun.
