Volunteers Needed for Telegraph & 27th Parking-Protected Demo

onewaycycletrack_plantersVolunteer and help us make the demonstration a success!

Shifts available from 6 AM-2 PM on May 8th

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be running a parking-protected bikeway demonstration on Bike to Work Day, at Telegraph Avenue, between 27th and Sycamore. This is a great opportunity to visualize the potential of our streets.

But we need support to pull this off! We’ll need folks on hand to help with set up and take down, running the demo, surveying participants, manning our energizer station and more

If interested, please indicate below and mark all the shifts you’d be willing to work. In addition, share with any friends/family that may be interested in supporting as well. With your help, we hope to have an awesome interactive and educational demonstration, and on no better day than the 20th Anniversary of Bike to Work Day!

WOBO Wins: NACTO Outcomes and Anti Harassment Ordinance

10003521_10152255245744000_1327528792_nMany exciting things are happening in Oakland, and WOBO’s got you covered on all the details.

At our NACTO Cities for Cycling VIP Reception on April 10, 2014, Oakland decision makers heard from top transportation professionals from Boston, New York City, San Francisco and Chicago on how these cities are transforming their streets for walking and bicycling and received a great dose of momentum to do the same here in Oakland when Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty announced that Caltrans is endorsing the NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide, the new bible of bikeway planning.

With the success of our VIP Reception and the 2-day Road Show involving Oakland city staff and elected officials, Oakland is ready to start redesigning your streets with real bikeways that are safe, comfortable, inviting and yes, fun to ride.

We’re also excited to announce that the Public Safety Committee unanimously approved  the Bike and Pedestrian Anti Harassment Ordinance introduced by Councilmember Libby Schaaf and supported by WOBO. The full Council will vote on this ordinance’s approval at their next meeting on April 22nd.
