SUMMARY:Ride Like A Girl - Let's Go Bike Camping
DESCRIPTION:Walk Oakland Bike Oakland presents RiDE LiKE A GiRL\, a bicycling skills program overnight camping trip at Coyote Hills Regional Park \nLet’s go Bike Camping on June 27-28 in Coyote Hills Regional Park! Participants will have the option of joining one of two planning sessions (6/2 5-6pm\, or 6/7 1-2pm at Sports Basement Berkeley) to help participants get ready for the bike camping trip. \n \nIMPORTANT: You must sign up for the bike camping trip  on Eventbrite. \n\nWalk Oakland Bike Oakland presents RiDE LiKE A GiRL\, a bicycling skills program designed for every woman who wants to ride. Our goal is getting more folks comfortable and confident on their bicycles\, and feeling more connected with a community of people who want to bike! \n\n\nThis year we are returning to Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont\, CA. You choose from three different ride options\, all routes will launch from Lake Merritt BART: \n\nThe shortest and most family- friendly route will be 8 miles along the Alameda Creek trail\, taking BART to Union City BART station to connect with the trail.\nFor those more comfortable biking but new to carrying camping gear will ride from Oakland via the Bay trail.\nFor those who are ready to tackle hills with their camping gear will ride from Oakland via a hilly route.\n\nPrior bike camping (or camping) experience is not required. \nYou should be comfortable riding as a group\, and confident biking the distance you chose while carrying weight. You are responsible for your own food. We will lead a group ride together from the camp site to the grocery store 2 miles away in case you need to get anything else. Water and toilets are available at the campsite. \nTo best prepare yourself and your bike for the trip\, you must attend a pre-trip workshop: We will go over trip details\, tip sheets\, and open the floor for gear swaps. Attendance at one meeting is mandatory. \n\nTuesday\, June 2\, 5:00-6:00pm at Sports Basement (Berkeley\, 2727 Milvia)\nSunday\, June 7\, 1:00-2:00pm at Sports Basement (Berkeley\, 2727 Milvia)\nIf you were unable to attend either the Tuesday\, June 2\, 5 – 6 pm OR Sunday\, June 7\, 1 – 2 pm pre-trip planning workshops at Sports Basement 2727 Milvia Street Berkeley\, we will share a recording that covers most of the workshop content.\n\nAt the meeting\, you will have a chance to meet others on the trip\, learn helpful tips for bike camping\, and discover ideas for packing your gear on your bike\, and borrow gear if needed. You can bring your bike to the meeting to get support in setting up your gear. \nSuggested donation is $15 per participant to cover campground fees and safety supplies. Feeling generous? Register as a steward of s’mores and give $30 to cover the costs of yourself and a fellow camper. No one turned away for lack of funds! \nWhen you register\, you will be required to provide an emergency contact. Please list someone who will be in the area the weekend of the ride and who will be able to assist you in any situation that may cause you to leave the trip. Volunteers will have basic first aid kits and bike tools\, but will not be able to handle major ailments or mechanical issues. \n**This ride is open to all women\, trans and femme non-binary folks who want to join. Any children or youth under 18 are welcome to join with a adult guardian** \n\nThe RLAG workshop series helps women\, trans\, femme and non-binary riders build bike skills and confidence on the road.
